SoThin Thin Client FAQs
Q: Why purchase Thin Client Manager?
A: Thin Client Manager allows you to deploy, configure and update all of your SoThin Thin Client devices from a central location. Without Thin Client Manager, this process will have to be carried out manually at each PC.
Q: What does a "client" refer to?
A: A Client refers to a device, whether it's a PC or a laptop. Each device requires a Client license.
Q: What does Upgrade Protection cover?
A: Upgrade Protection can be renewed on a yearly basis and entitles you to updates, patches and upgrades to new versions. Additionally, you are entitled to email support and assistance for the duration of your Upgrade Protection period.

Q: Which Operating Systems can Thin Client be installed on?
A: Windows NT4, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows XP (32bit).
Q: Which connection types are supported?
A: Microsoft RDP, Citrix ICA, Tarantella, all locally installed applications, custom connections via local connection.
Q: Which server connections does Thin Client support?
A: Microsoft Terminal Server 2000 - 2008, Virtual Servers, Citrix Servers, Tarantella, Linux, any other server via custom local connection.
Q: Can I create a custom connection?
A: Custom connections can be added to the connection manager by adding a local connection. Simply place the connection on an accessible share or on the local device then add the connection as a local connection.
Q: Is RDC7 / RDP7 supported?
A: Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 is supported once installed on the local device.
Q: Does Thin Client support multiple monitors?
A: Multiple monitors are supported, please see the image gallery for examples
Q: Can I adjust my keyboard, mouse and multimedia settings from within Thin Client?
A: Pressing Ctrl+F2 from the SoThin Connection Manager will launch the SoThin Thin Client Settings window. From here you will be able to manage keyboard, mouse, multimedia, printer and fax, as well as regional settings. The availability of these options is determined by the restrictions configured by the administrator.
Q: How do I convert my SoThin Thin Client device back to a standard Windows desktop?
A: From the SoThin Connection Manager, press Ctrl+F3. You may be prompted for adminitrative and SoThin credentials. Once in the Configuration dialog, you can select "Convert Desktop" to turn your desktop back. Any restrictions put in place using SoThin must be undone using the SoThin Configuration Wizard.
Q: Can I install SoThin Thin Client and the Thin Client Manager on the same computer?
A: This is not supported. If you have ever had SoThin Thin Client, Secure Desktop or XyZ installed on the computer, you should not install any SoThin Management products, as there may be behavioural discrepancies compared to an installation on a clean device.

Q: Does Remote Control support multiple monitors?
A: Unfortunately multiple monitors are not supported with SoThin Remote Control, this is due to potential incompatibilities betwen clients and viewers.
Q: Can I install SoThin Remote Control and the Remote Control Manager on the same computer?
A: This is not supported, as the SoThin Management Console installs its own version of Remote Control, which cannot be installed alongside the client product.

SoThin ThinPackage FAQs
Q: What kinds of connections can SoThin ThinPackage create?
A: SoThin ThinPackage is able to create connections to Citrix, Microsoft Remote Desktop, VNC, SoThin Remote Control, and Tarantella devices.
Q: Can SoThin ThinPackage only create connections to connect to servers?
A: No - SoThin ThinPackage is able to create a connection to any device that can host any of the above connection software.
Q: Do I need to enable any special connection options on my device for it to be accessible remotely?
A: This can depend greatly on the network setup at your location. Most routers have an option for NAT or Port Forwarding / Redirection, which may need to be configured for ThinPackage connections to reach your device.
Q: How many connections can I make using the ThinPackage Manager?
A: There is no limit on the amount of connections you can make using SoThin ThinPackage Manager. The only restriction is defined by any quotas as defined on your own system.
Q: Can I digitally sign the connection files created by ThinPackage?
A: Yes - there is an option in ThinPackage to sign the packages you create. You will need to provide a valid .pfx file and specify the password for this certificate to sign any connections you create.
Q: How can I make ThinPackage connection files available to users who require them?
A: You can do this by any number of available options - common solutions are to distribute the connection files on memory sticks, CDs, via email or website downloads. Please note that all connection files made with ThinPackage are .exe files, this may present restrictions on email and download availability
